This iconic architectural complex, situated in the heart of the British capital on the banks of the River Thames, is the epicentre of the country’s legislative power. Known for its impressive Victorian Gothic style, it was designed by architect Charles Barry and designer Augustus Pugin, and its construction was completed in the mid-19th century, following the devastating fire that destroyed much of the original medieval building in 1834.

The complex includes several famous towers, including one that houses a bell known worldwide by name and for its resonant chime that marks the hours. Furthermore, the building houses two main chambers, each dedicated to one of the two houses of Parliament. These rooms are richly decorated with frescoes, sculptures and mosaics depicting historical scenes and allegories of justice, the law and national culture.

Over the years, this place has witnessed significant events in the country’s political history, including crucial debates, state addresses and opening ceremonies. Its importance extends beyond politics, making it a symbol of the country’s identity and democracy, as well as a tourist attraction that draws millions of visitors from around the world eager to behold its majesty and learn about its rich history.
